On Saturday 18th July Largs Lifeboat Station will hold their annual Open Day. The crew will be on hand all day to showcase the valuable work that they do. Throughout the day the public will have the opportunity to speak to the crew and see the boat and equipment used in the vital lifesaving work carried out in the local area.
The day will begin at around 12pm with all of the usual attractions such as a 105ft long bouncy castle, RNLI shop, burgers, Sea Safety Roadshow, Largs Model Boat Club, Largs Coastguard Rescue team, Intuition H2O and Cumbrae Voyages. For the first time L107 fm will be bringing along a Roadshow to provide music and entertainment all day.
At 12:30 the 3rd Annual Raft Race, organised by Largs Round Table on behalf of Largs Lifeboat Station will start. Teams can enter on the day but all rafts must be at the lifeboat station by 12:15.
At 2pm Royal Navy Rescue Helicopter 177 intends to land (subject to Search and Rescue requirements) close to the Lifeboat Station. For the next 45 minutes members of the public will be able to view the helicopter that carries out Search and Rescue missions throughout the entire West coast of Scotland.
At 2:45pm the helicopter will take off and carry out a rescue demonstration with the lifeboat.
